The Sir Ross McLarty Sports Precinct is the Shire’s only district sports facility for non-equestrian activities and is home to the following clubs under varying lease and hire arrangements:
Pinjarra Football and Netball Club (PFNC)
Pinjarra Junior Football Club (PJFC)
Pinjarra Cricket Club (PCC)
Pinjarra Bowling and Recreation Club (PBRC)
Murray District Sea Scouts (MDSS)
Peel Community Care (PCC)
In 2008, a masterplan focussng on the Precinct’s facility requirements for the following 10 years was developed based on the Shire’s projected rapid population growth.
Since then, all equestrian activities have been relocated to the Murray Regional Equestrian Centre and the Pinjarra Tennis Club has folded. The population growth has also slowed and while some elements of the Masterplan have been implemented, others are yet to be delivered. As a result, the Precinct is a mix of ageing infrastructure that is no longer fit-for-purpose or unused and new facilities such as the Pinjarra Bowling and Recreation Club, completed in 2015.
Additionally, four buildings are over 40 years old and therefore do not meet current disability access requirements or contemporary design principles of gender-neutral amenities.
A third senior oval was constructed in 2015, in partnership with the Department of Education, and is under a shared use agreement with Pinjarra Primary School.
